Our History

Cornerstone Community Church created Billings Christian School in August 1981 with 42 students.  At that time, the church and school were located at 1116 Grand Ave. In 1987, the church and school relocated to their present site on nearly 11 acres.

In 2011 the Big Sky Youth Foundation purchased the East Building from Cornerstone Community Church, and Billings Christian School started its pre-school program.

In October 2012 Billings Christian School became dually-accredited with ACSI and AdvancEd.

The Board of Directors in 2013 voted to drop the names Rimrock Christian and Rimview Elementary and rename the school Billings Christian School.

Cornerstone Community Church graciously gifted the BCS Education Foundation approximately 15,000 square feet of their existing building and the balance of the land surrounding the buildings, parking areas, and sports fields in 2014.

First Expansion

In 2015, our first expansion was funded by the school Board, Foundation Board, and school administration. This expansion helped BCS meet the growth of 102 students to 295 students over three years. It included three classrooms, a Home Economics classroom/kitchen combination, a science laboratory, restrooms, and a fire sprinkler system.

Second Expansion

In 2016, additional facilities were needed to provide academic and extracurricular programs to continue the BCS quality educational experience for all students. BCS donors and foundation supporters supplied the funding needed to build a gymnasium, locker rooms, and two music rooms. The music rooms facilitated the growth of our band, orchestra, and choir programs. In the current school year, 73% of our 5th-12th grade students participate in at least one of our music programs.

Third Expansion

In 2019, we were experiencing student growth in our upper grades and recognized we needed dedicated space for our middle school. A campaign for a middle school wing provided four middle school classrooms, a K-8 art room, a STEM lab, along with a commons and office space. Donors and foundations provided gifts allowing BCS to finish this campaign debt-free.

Vision For the Future

Billings Christian School has a long history, and in recent years, God has blessed us with increased enrollment, new facilities, and vital financial resources. As we look to the future, there are opportunities to expand our mission and increase our effectiveness in producing graduates who understand, embrace, and apply a Christian worldview to their daily lives. To reach this goal, we will develop courses that introduce students to thinking and acting like a Christian in appropriate ways for their age and grade. Our mission indicates the importance of clear and critical thinking and eloquent and persuasive communication in writing and speaking.

A quality program in the arts will enhance a solid academic program. All students will benefit from exposure to the fine arts, either visual or musical. The history of Christianity clearly shows the close connection between faith and the arts, and the arts reveal that we are made in the image of God.

Another critical component of a well-rounded school program is a robust athletic program. Beginning in the middle grades, where the emphasis is on participation and skill development, through the Varsity level, with the emphasis on competition, students benefit from physical activity and opportunities to deal with success and failure.

At Billings Christian School, our vision is to offer the very best to our students in the three “A”s of ACADEMICS, ARTS, and ATHLETICS.

Statement of Faith

While Billings Christian School is not affiliated with any specific denomination, we provide an academic environment based on a Biblical worldview. Faith is woven into every subject, not just Bible class and chapel. Faith informs our attitudes and actions towards each other. Our purpose at Billings Christian School is to inspire and equip our students to serve God and love others, and we affirm the following statements as the foundation of our faith community.

How can I be involved as a parent?

At Billings Christian, enrolled families are considered a part of our Parent Teacher Fellowship. All K – 12th grade BCS families are required to provide 10 hours of service each school year (5 hours for single parent households). Volunteer opportunities are organized through a core group of volunteers who serve and lead the Parent Teacher Fellowship. The leadership team welcomes new members who are committed to attending scheduled meetings and being an active participant. Additionally, the school is always looking for those willing to volunteer their time and efforts outside of the required service hours. We need chaperones on field trips, help with fundraisers, and workers for special activities. We are always looking for qualified substitute teachers, as well.

What is Billings Christian School like?

We can best be described as a community of families. We work together toward the common goal of educating our children in the Light of God’s Word.

What is the size of your school?

Our current enrollment is 420 students.

Does Billings Christian School have a hot lunch program?

We provide hot lunch on the Grand Campus on Monday through Friday. On Tuesdays, our Senior class serves pizza as a class fundraiser. All other days are on a rotating menu and meals are cooked fresh daily.

Hot lunch services are not available on the High School campus, with the exception being Tuesdays when pizza can be purchased. We allow all high school students to leave campus to purchase lunch. We also supply microwaves in the commons for their use and convenience. Students may also purchase snacks from the Senior Snack Shack.
